Title I

Title I in Middleton Public Schools

Title I is a federally funded program that aims to help all students in meeting the challenging State academic standards. Title I supplements the district's regular educational programming.

Schoolwide Title I services are available in reading and math at Purple Sage Elementary, Heights Elementary, Middleton Middle School, and Middleton Academy.

In a schoolwide program, all teachers are considered Title I teachers.  Services are also provided by highly qualified paraprofessionals.

What is a Schoolwide Program?

There are three required components of a schoolwide program that are essential to effective implementation: conducting a comprehensive needs assessment, preparing a comprehensive schoolwide plan, and annually reviewing and revising, as necessary, the schoolwide plan.

A schoolwide program must implement strategies that:

  1. provide opportunities for all children to meet challenging State academic standards;
  2. use methods and instructional strategies that strengthen the academic program in the school, increase the amount and quality of learning time, and help provide an enriched and accelerated curriculum, which may include programs, activities, and courses necessary to provide a well-  rounded education; and
  3. address the needs of all students, but particularly those at risk of not meeting challenging State academic standards. (ESEA section 1114(b)(7)(A)).
